Pruning / trimming (not “lopping”)

Home Services Pruning / trimming (not “lopping”)

Why we don’t use the term “lopping”

Lopping is a term sometimes used by customers but qualified tree surgeons would never use this word as lopping is basically indiscriminate cutting of branches.   Speak to our qualified staff about safe procedures before you agree to allow someone to lop your trees and we can advise you on the correct method to prune your trees.

Tree pruning and trimming

Tree pruning or trimming is undertaken for a variety of reasons:

  • To remove dead, diseased or injured wood
  • To remove branches to allow light and air to penetrate the interior of the tree
  • To clear from power lines, buildings or other structures
  • To modify the growth of the plant to suit the conditions in the garden
